SLB User Guide

Editing pages

This page walks through everyday editing in the SLB editor: opening a page, working with sections, saving, previewing and publishing.

Open a page in the editor

  1. Go to SLB Editor in the WordPress admin menu. The editor opens full screen.
  2. Use the page drop-down in the top bar to pick the page you want.

Other ways in: Edit with SLB on the Pages list or page edit screen (only for pages that already have SLB sections), the Edit with SLB link in the admin bar on the live site, or Pages > Add New and choose SLB in the chooser. A new page starts as a draft called "New Page".

Work with sections

The Sections tab lists the page from top to bottom. Click a section in the list, or click the section in the preview, to open its fields.

Add a section

  1. Click + Add Section at the bottom of the list.
  2. Pick a section from the picker. Sections are grouped by category (hero, content, marketing and so on).
  3. It is added to the page and opens for editing. Fill in its fields.

The first time you open the editor you may see a short Quick start panel with the same idea: add a section, click a section in the preview to edit it, save as you go, then publish.

To use the same section twice, simply add it again. Each copy is independent. There is no "duplicate" button.

Reorder

Grab the drag handle on the left of a section row ("Drag to reorder") and move it up or down.

Each row has a ⋯ menu:

Warning. Some sections show a lock icon. They are required for that page (for example the cart or checkout section on a WooCommerce page) and cannot be removed.

Fill in fields

Each section shows the fields its designer chose. You will meet these kinds:

FieldHow to use it
Text, long textType. Long text is a multi-line box.
Rich textA small formatting toolbar for bold, links and lists.
ImageClick Select Image and choose from the media library (see below).
Link (URL)Paste a web address, or pick a page on your site where a page picker is offered.
Video linkPaste a video web address.
ColourPick a colour or type a hex code.
Number, sliderType a number or drag.
Drop-downChoose one option.
ToggleSwitch on or off.
Product, product list, categoryShop sections only. Choose items from your WooCommerce catalogue.

Blocks (repeatable items)

Many sections hold repeatable items, such as feature cards, FAQ questions or testimonials. Inside the section you will see a button like + Add Feature. Click it to add an item. Each item has a Remove button. Use the handle to reorder items.

Pick or upload an image

  1. Click Select Image on an image field.
  2. The WordPress media library opens. Choose an existing image or switch to Upload files and drop a new one.
  3. Click the confirm button. The preview updates.

Tip. Use compressed images (under about 300 KB where you can) and give them clear names. Fast pages sell and rank better.

Advanced settings and visibility

At the bottom of a section you may find extra groups:

There are no separate mobile or tablet settings. Responsive behaviour is built into each section.

Save, autosave, undo, discard

Preview and publish

  1. Click the Mobile, Tablet or Desktop icons to check each size.
  2. Click Preview to open the page in a new tab, or Preview Link to copy a link you can send to a client. The link works for 7 days, with no login.
  3. When you are happy, click Publish Changes. The live page updates.

Warning. Saved is not published. Visitors only see your work after Publish Changes.

Page Settings tab

Header and footer on this page

Choose Default (theme) or Hidden for the header and for the footer, then click Save Settings. Hidden is useful for landing pages.

A/B test

  1. In Page Settings, click Create A/B Test. Visitors are split 50/50 between the original (Variant A) and a copy (Variant B).
  2. Click Edit Variant B and change what you want to test.
  3. When you have a winner, click End A/B Test. Variant B is deleted, so copy anything you want to keep first.

Global Settings tab

This tab holds site-wide items.

Full-width pages: the SLB Canvas template

If your theme adds padding or a title above the sections, switch the page to the canvas template.

  1. Open Pages and edit the page in WordPress.
  2. In the page settings sidebar, find Template.
  3. Choose SLB Canvas (no theme header or footer) and click Update.

The page then shows only your SLB sections. Use it when SLB's own header and footer regions should stand alone.

WooCommerce warning

If you add a shop section while WooCommerce is not active, the editor shows a message. Install and activate WooCommerce first, or the section will be empty on the live page.
