Every MCP tool explained

You rarely call tools yourself. You describe what you want and Claude picks the tools. This page explains what each one does so you can ask for the right thing.

Note. The MCP folder's own README says 21 tools. The code in version 0.3.10 has 22. This guide lists all 22.

Sections

Tool	What it does	Example prompt
`slb_list_sections`	Lists the sections available on the site.	"Which sections can I use?"
`slb_get_section_source`	Reads one section so Claude can learn its fields before changing it.	"Look at the Hero section and tell me what fields it has."
`slb_write_section`	Creates or changes a section in the draft theme.	"Add a pricing table section to the draft."
`slb_validate_schema`	Checks a section's field definition for mistakes before saving.	"Validate that section before writing it."

Global regions

Tool	What it does	Example prompt
`slb_list_global_regions`	Lists header, footer and other shared regions.	"Which global regions exist?"
`slb_get_global_region`	Reads one region's content.	"Show me the current footer content."
`slb_set_global_region`	Sets a region's content in the draft.	"Set the primary colour to deep green in Theme Settings."

Pages and media

Tool	What it does	Example prompt
`slb_list_pages`	Lists pages and their status.	"List my pages."
`slb_get_page`	Reads the sections and content of a page.	"Show me the About page."
`slb_set_page`	Writes a page's sections. Draft only, never live.	"Rewrite the About page with a team section."
`slb_create_page`	Creates a new page.	"Create a Contact page with a hero and a form section."
`slb_upload_media`	Uploads an image or file to the media library.	"Upload logo.png and use it in the header."
`slb_set_menu`	Builds a navigation menu. It only goes live if told to.	"Create a main menu with Home, Shop, About. Do not make it live yet."

Menus. Making a menu live changes the real site at once. Only ask for that when you mean it.

Draft theme

Tool	What it does	Example prompt
`slb_create_draft`	Copies the live theme to a draft. Run this first.	"Create a draft theme."
`slb_build_css`	Rebuilds the stylesheet so new sections are styled. Runs on your computer and uploads to the draft.	"Rebuild the CSS."

Shop

Tool	What it does	Example prompt
`slb_create_product`	Creates a product, as a draft by default.	"Add a product called Blue Mug at 12.50."
`slb_update_product`	Edits a product. Can also move it to trash.	"Change the Blue Mug price to 14."
`slb_store_settings`	Changes store options: coming soon mode, currency, default country, site title, tagline, front page, cash on delivery.	"Set the tagline to 'Made by hand'."

Confirm first. Some store settings (like coming-soon mode or the front page) take effect on the live site immediately. Ask Claude to tell you before changing them.

Design and quality

Tool	What it does	Example prompt
`slb_design_brief`	Writes a short design brief (store type, audience, direction, palette, shape of corners) that guides the whole build.	"Write a design brief for a premium tea shop for gift buyers."
`slb_audit_site`	Opens the site in a real browser at phone, tablet and desktop sizes and scores it. See the audit.	"Audit the draft site."

Figma

`slb_import_figma_assets`	Downloads images from a Figma file using your token. Can do a dry run first.	"Do a dry run of importing the images from this Figma link."
`slb_read_fig`	Reads a local `.fig` file without a token or internet.	"List the frames in design.fig."

The MCP also offers a built-in guide (slb://guide) that Claude reads to learn the rules, and a ready-made prompt called build-site-from-design that takes a design source and notes.
